This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X100-20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X100-20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-20 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X100-20 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke by up to 20 mm on site, giving a usable range of 80-100 mm. It is discontinued, and the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X100 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP body follows the older DIN standard.
At 0.5 MPa this 16 mm bore pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it reaches 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical ceiling of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. A practical rule of thumb: plan for roughly 60 N of real work, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and gantries. Note the 100 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is made to order.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X100-20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X100-20 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 80-100 mm adjustable range lets a machinist trim clamp travel to the fixture without changing cylinders; 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light hold-down of aluminium brackets.
Pushes filled cartons off a conveyor stop at up to 500 mm/s, with the 20 mm window tuned so the stroke clears the box exactly.
Lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin, and the short body fits inside a compact analysis enclosure where a full-length profile cylinder cannot.
Size both ways before ordering: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while the 20 mm bore delivers 157.1 N - pick the 16 mm when your part weight sits under about 60 N of working force. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 20 mm window; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. This unit has no magnet (no S code), so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be fitted - order the -S variant if position sensing is needed. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face. Replacement: ACEJ16X100.
Replacement checklist
Push is 100.5 N and pull is 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 140.7 N and pull to 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere between 80 and 100 mm. The 100 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the bore 16 standard maximum is 75 mm. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
It is a short ISO 21287-class compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, M5x0.8 ports, a female M4x0.7 rod thread and a fixed TPU bumper at each end that only decelerates at the ends of travel. Position sensing requires the optional -S magnet code, which enables CMSE or DMSE switches; this version has no magnet, so no sensor can be mounted. The model is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X100, so verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
