This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X100-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X100-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X100-30SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -30 stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke down to 70 mm on site, so one unit covers several jig positions. This 16 mm bore pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa (140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa), with a male 8 mm rod thread from the B code and the optional -S magnet fitted for CMSE / DMSE switches. Note the 100 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X100.
The hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 short build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into cramped guarding and slide assemblies. At 0.5 MPa plan on roughly 60 N of usable push (about 0.6 of the rating), which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, speed runs 30-500 mm/s, and pressure spans 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to the ACEJ16X100.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X100-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X100-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa (140.7 N at 0.7 MPa) stakes or seats light aluminium brackets; the 70-100 mm adjustable window lets one cylinder serve two fixture depths.
The -S magnet with a CMSE switch confirms full extension before the next carton indexes, while the short body fits under the guard frame.
With about 5 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, the male-threaded 8 mm rod drives a small sample tray down and back at 30-500 mm/s.
Size both ways: if 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your load, step up to bore 20 (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa); if it is generous, bore 12 gives 56.5 N at lower air use. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not hold a load if air is lost, so add an external brake where holding matters. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the -S magnet on this unit accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ16X100 as the current-production replacement and verify mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke is trimmable from 100 mm down to 70 mm with the stop screw. The 100 mm stroke is made to order because the bore 16 standard maximum is 75 mm. This model is discontinued - the ACEJ16X100 is the current replacement.
It is an ISO 21287 short-body cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body and an S45C hard-chrome rod, roughly 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. A fixed TPU bumper decelerates the piston at each end. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped to the body for end-of-stroke signalling. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings fit the standard ISO 21287 face.
