AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X100-40 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-40 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-40 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ16X100-40 runs on a 16 mm bore with a 100 mm stroke trimmed by a 40 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere in the 60-100 mm range. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, so as a rule of thumb plan on roughly 60 N of real work, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the rod ends in a female M4x0.7 thread with M5x0.8 ports. Note: this model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Size against the 0.5 MPa figures: bore 12 gives 56.5 N push and bore 20 gives 157.1 N, so the 16 mm bore at 100.5 N sits between them - step up if your fixture needs more than about 60 N of usable force. The stop screw only trims the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock; on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and if you need position sensing, order the -S variant to add the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches - this non-S code has no magnet. For new builds, specify ACEJ16X100 instead.
