This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X100-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X100-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X100-50B is a discontinued double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 50-100 mm. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The B code gives a male rod thread on the 8 mm rod, and the port is M5x0.8.
Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding. In practice, plan for roughly 60 N (about 6 kgf) of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note the 100 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so it is made to order. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ16X100 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X100-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X100-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 50 mm trim window lets a fixture builder dial the 100 mm stroke down per jig, with about 60 N of reliable push at 0.5 MPa holding light aluminium parts.
A packaging line ejects misaligned cartons with the 100.5 N push force, tuned down to 50 mm of travel via the stop screw to match the conveyor lane.
A compact analytical instrument uses the male-thread rod to press sample trays, lifting about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 safety margin at 0.5 MPa.
At 100.5 N push (0.5 MPa), bore 16 suits light clamping and positioning; step down to bore 12 (56.5 N) for smaller loads or up to bore 20 (157.1 N) when more force is needed. The 50 mm adjustment window lets one cylinder serve several fixture depths, but the stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. This unit has no magnet (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches). Order ACEJ16X100 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting, runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
The -50 code is a 50 mm window: a stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere between 50 and 100 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 100 mm. The magnet is not fitted on this version - order the optional -S code to enable CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ16X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
