This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X100-50S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X100-50S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-50S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-50S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X100-50S is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder (now discontinued) in the DIN-standard ACPJ family. Its 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the 100 mm extend stroke down to as little as 50 mm on site, so one cylinder covers a 50-100 mm working range. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard limit for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guard-mounted tooling. The -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body. Plan on roughly 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rating), which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. For new projects, order the current-production replacement ACEJ16X100 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X100-50S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X100-50S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims the extend stroke between 50 and 100 mm to clamp varied part heights on a machining jig, with about 60 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa.
The fitted -S magnet lets CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract positions on a small PCB eject or press-off station.
The short body fits under a low guard where a full-length ISO 15552 profile cylinder will not, pushing caps home at 100.5 N.
Size both ways: if 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your fixture, step up to bore 20 for 157.1 N; if the load is light, bore 12 gives 56.5 N in a smaller envelope. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 50 mm window and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate clamp if you need position holding. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued; the drop-in successor is ACEJ16X100 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, port M5x0.8, rod 8 mm with M4x0.7 female thread, and a 50 mm stroke adjustment window on the 100 mm stroke. The stroke is a made-to-order size above the 75 mm standard limit for bore 16.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 50-100 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered 100 mm. The stop is a mechanical end stop only - it does not hold a load if air is lost. This ACPJ model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X100 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACPJ is DIN-standard.
