AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X100-50 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-50 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-50 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X100-50 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm extend stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 50-100 mm on site. Its 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Note that the 100 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so this is a made-to-order stroke.
Practical sizing: plan on about 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rated push), which lifts about 5 kg vertically - halve that to about 2.5 kg if you want a 2:1 margin on a vertical lift. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the rod end is female M4x0.7 with M5x0.8 ports. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X100 (same bore, stroke and force class) - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Size both ways: if 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your load, step up to bore 20 for 157.1 N push; if the load is light, bore 12 gives 56.5 N in a smaller envelope. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke only - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so on air loss the piston still drifts and cannot hold a load. Mounting uses FA/FB flanges or LB feet on the ISO 21287 face. No magnet is fitted on this code (no S), so no CMSE / DMSE switch can be mounted - order the -S version if sensing is needed. For new projects, specify the ACEJ16X100 instead.
