This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X100-75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X100-75 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-75 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-75 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, now discontinued. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code sets a 75 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the 100 mm extend stroke down to as little as 25 mm, so one cylinder covers a 25-100 mm working range. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped jigs and guarding. Plan on about 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, enough to lift roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the rod end is female M4x0.7. No magnet is fitted on this code; the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches. The current drop-in is the ACEJ16X100 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X100-75 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X100-75 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 25-100 mm trim range lets one cylinder serve several part heights, with 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa holding light aluminium workpieces.
With the optional -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract as the cylinder kicks off-spec cartons sideways.
About 5 kg vertical lift capacity with a 2:1 margin suits raising small vials or fixtures inside tight instrument frames.
Size both ways: if 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is more than your load needs, the 12 mm bore (56.5 N push) saves space; if you need more, step up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push). Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and drifts on air loss, so it is not a load-holding device. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and adding the -S magnet code lets CMSE / DMSE switches report position. For new designs, order the current-production ACEJ16X100 instead and verify the ISO 21287 footprint.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code gives a 75 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 100 mm extend stroke to any length from 25 mm up. It is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts. This model is discontinued; the ACEJ16X100 is the current replacement.
The short ISO 21287-class aluminium body cuts mounting length by about 50% versus an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end and FA/FB flange or LB foot options. Position sensing needs the optional -S magnet code; this unit has no magnet fitted, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted unless that code is ordered. Ports are M5x0.8 and the rod thread is female M4x0.7.
