This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X110-100S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X110-100S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X110-100S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X110-100S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder trims its extend stroke on site: the -100 stop screw shortens the 110 mm stroke by up to 100 mm, giving a usable range of 10-110 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. The 110 mm stroke is above the 75 mm standard limit for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ16X110, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping because the ACPJ follows the DIN standard.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding. Because the -S code was ordered, the magnet is fitted and CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the body. A practical sizing check: about 60 N of the push force is realistic working output at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the piston; it never locks or holds a load, so on air loss the rod will drift.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X110-100S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X110-100S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
On a small CNC jig, the stop screw is set to 25 mm so the 8 mm rod clamps thin aluminum brackets with about 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa without over-compressing the part.
With the -S magnet fitted, a DMSE solid-state switch confirms full retract on a PCB tray eject station, while the 10-110 mm adjustable range lets one cylinder serve several tray depths.
In a tight packaging gantry where a full-length ISO 15552 cylinder will not fit, the short body pushes 150 g blister packs off a conveyor at 300 mm/s within the 30-500 mm/s band.
Size between bores: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N, so this 16 mm unit at 100.5 N sits mid-range for light clamping and indexing. Remember the stop screw is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet (fitted here) pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects specify the ACEJ16X110, the current-production successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on roughly 60 N of real working force at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s.
The -100 code is a 100 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere in the 10-110 mm range; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 110 mm and it is not a load-holding brake. The ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is ACEJ16X110 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACPJ was built to the DIN standard.
