This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X110-20S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X110-20S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X110-20S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X110-20S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ16X110-20S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 110 mm stroke by up to 20 mm on site, giving a usable 90-110 mm range. Air works on both faces of the piston, so the rod extends and retracts under power. At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 110 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard limit for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X110, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures and guarded cells. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and the optional -S magnet, which this unit has fitted, so CMSE / DMSE switches can read position directly. As a sizing rule of thumb, plan on about 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, and for vertical lifts that works out to lifting roughly 5 kg with a 2:1 margin. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s over 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) of clean, 40 um filtered air.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X110-20S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X110-20S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick stamped terminals or molded caps off a nest, and the 90-110 mm adjustable window lets a technician dial the eject position without shimming the mount.
With the -S magnet fitted, a CMSE or DMSE switch confirms the 16 mm bore rod is fully home before the carton closer cycles, at speeds from 30-500 mm/s.
About 60 N of practical working force at 0.5 MPa suits seating small nylon or aluminium bushings, and the compact short body fits where a full-length profile cylinder cannot.
Size against neighbours: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to 20 mm raises it to 157.1 N - pick 16 mm when 100.5 N covers the job with headroom. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 20 mm window; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift if air is lost. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. For new designs, order the ACEJ16X110 instead - same bore, stroke and force class, in current production.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window, so the 110 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere between 90 and 110 mm with the external stop screw. The stroke is non-standard for this bore (75 mm max standard) and made to order.
The body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod, M5x0.8 ports, a female M4x0.7 rod thread and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. It is a short ISO 21287-class design, roughly 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches mount directly. Note the model is discontinued - the drop-in successor is the ACEJ16X110, so verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
