This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X110-20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X110-20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X110-20 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X110-20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder trims its 110 mm extend stroke on site with a stop screw inside a 20 mm window, giving a usable range of 90-110 mm. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Note the 110 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X110 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 0.6 of the rated push), which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and this version has no magnet - order the optional -S code if you need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X110-20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

The ACEJ16X110-20 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clears a finished connector or bushing from a nest, and the 20 mm trim lets one cylinder serve nests of slightly different depths.
About 60 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa holds a circuit board against locating pins during in-circuit testing, with the 90-110 mm range matching varying fixture heights.
The short body fits where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder is too long, and with the optional -S magnet, CMSE / DMSE switches confirm part present at the trimmed end position.
Size between bores: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N - pick the 16 mm when your load sits between about 40 and 60 N of working demand. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke; it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the female M4x0.7 rod thread takes standard knuckles. Before swapping to the ACEJ16X110 replacement, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 16 mm bore uses an 8 mm rod with M4x0.7 female thread and an M5x0.8 port. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the 110 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 75 mm standard maximum for this bore.
An external stop screw shortens the 110 mm extend stroke by up to 20 mm, so the working range is 90-110 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered value. The stop is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air pressure is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X110 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
