This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X110-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X110-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X110-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X110-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ16X110-50B is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore, a 110 mm made-to-order stroke and a male rod thread (B code). At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N. The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 60-110 mm range. Air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed runs 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped jig plates and sliding guards. Practical sizing: treat roughly 60 N (about 6 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin) as the usable push effort at 0.5 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the M5x0.8 port matches the bore. This model is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X110, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X110-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X110-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
On a small drilling fixture, the stop screw sets a repeatable 60-110 mm extend stroke to clear a drill bushing before clamping a 6 kg aluminium bracket.
The short body fits inside a compact machine guard frame, pushing a polycarbonate slide door open where a full-length profile cylinder would not fit.
On a blister-pack line, the 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa nudges finished blister cards off a conveyor lane into a collection chute.
Check the force ladder before ordering: bore 12 delivers 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and bore 20 delivers 157.1 N, so the 16 mm bore at 100.5 N sits mid-class. The 110 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so it is made to order. No magnet is fitted on this version - order the -S code if you need CMSE or DMSE switch positions. The male rod thread suits I/Y knuckles; FA flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the same face. For new designs, specify the ACEJ16X110 instead.
Replacement checklist
Push is 100.5 N and pull 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 50 mm adjustment window (usable stroke 60-110 mm), M5x0.8 port, male rod thread, 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) operating pressure, 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, -20 to +70 C, and 30-500 mm/s speed.
Bore 16 tops out at 75 mm as a standard stroke, so the 110 mm version is a non-standard, made-to-order item with a longer lead time. Also note this ACPJ model is discontinued; the current-production ACEJ16X110 is the drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class, but confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping.
