This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X110-50 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X110-50 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X110-50 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X110-50 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X110-50 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 110 mm stroke by up to 50 mm on site, giving a usable range of 60-110 mm. Air pushes the piston out and pulls it back, so no spring is involved. At 0.5 MPa this 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N of push and 75.4 N of pull; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 60 N (roughly 5 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin) of real work rather than the full rating. Note the 110 mm stroke is longer than the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so this is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guard-mounted tooling. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end and speeds of 30-500 mm/s. This model has no magnet (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches) and is now discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X110, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X110-50 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X110-50 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Seating bearings or dowels into plastic housings on an electronics assembly bench, where the 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough and the 60-110 mm adjustable range lets one cylinder serve several housing heights.
Kicking underweight cartons off a checkweigher conveyor, with the trimmed extend stroke set so the gate clears the belt exactly and the fixed TPU bumper absorbs the return impact.
Clamping sample trays inside a compact test-rig guard where a full-length profile cylinder will not fit, using the FA flange mount and about 5 kg of practical vertical capacity.
Size against neighbours: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N - pick up if your fixture needs more than about 60 N of usable force. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift if air is lost; do not use it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant with the optional magnet. For new designs, specify the ACEJ16X110 instead - this model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 110 mm extend stroke to any length from 60 to 110 mm. It shortens the stroke only - it never lengthens it, and it is a mechanical end stop, not a load-holding lock. The 110 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the bore 16 standard maximum is 75 mm.
Only if the optional -S magnet is ordered - this version (no S code) has no magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches cannot be mounted. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X110 (P changed to E), in the same bore, stroke and force class. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ before swapping it into your fixture.
