This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X125-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X125-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X125-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X125-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder in the AirTAC ACPJ family, now discontinued and replaced by the ACEJ16X125 in the same bore, stroke and force class. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 95-125 mm range, so one cylinder serves several jig positions. The 125 mm stroke is longer than the 75 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note the stop screw sets the end of travel only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, and the piston still drifts if air is lost.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight guards and compact gantries. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, a male rod thread (B code) and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. Because this model carries the optional -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of usable force at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 100.5 N rating.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X125-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X125-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 95-125 mm adjustable range and 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa eject finished small parts from a plastics assembly jig inside a guard too tight for a full-length cylinder.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE switches confirm the trimmed end position while the 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa seats a bushing in an electronics housing.
The stop screw trims the extend stroke to match part heights on a conveyor transfer gantry, lifting about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
Size the load against 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; if your fixture needs more, step up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa), and if the load is light the 12 mm bore (56.5 N push) saves space. For vertical lifting, halve the push force for margin - this cylinder lifts about 5 kg safely. The 30 mm adjustment window suits fixtures where the extend stroke must be trimmed on site; remember the stop does not hold a load against air loss. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the -S magnet pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. Since this model is discontinued, order the ACEJ16X125 as the current drop-in and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, as the ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so the 125 mm extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere between 95 and 125 mm. The 125 mm stroke is a made-to-order build because the standard maximum for a 16 mm bore is 75 mm. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s and operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, male rod thread and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends - about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The -S magnet this model carries allows CMSE or DMSE switches for position sensing. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X125, a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
