The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X125-40S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X125-40S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X125-40S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 125 mm stroke by up to 40 mm on site, giving a usable range of 85-125 mm. Air works on both faces of the 16 mm piston, pushing 100.5 N and pulling 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. The 125 mm stroke is longer than the 75 mm standard limit for bore 16, so this unit is made to order. Note this model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X125, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot fit. The -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body. In practice, plan for roughly 60 N (about 6 kg of vertical lift) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 100.5 N rating, and remember the fixed TPU bumper at each end only decelerates the rod - it never locks or holds a load if air is lost.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 85-125 mm adjustable extend range lets a jig builder dial in clamp travel per pallet, with about 60 N of usable clamp force at 0.5 MPa on small aluminium brackets.
Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the rod has reached the trimmed stop position before the PLC releases the part.
A body about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder slides under tight guarding on a packaging line, pushing light cartons at 30-500 mm/s.
Size the load both ways: at 0.5 MPa this bore gives 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull, while a 12 mm bore manages only 56.5 N push and a 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N - step up if your part weight or friction demand more. Keep the working force near 60 N (about 6 kg vertical) for a comfortable margin. The 40 mm window means the machine can be tuned between 85 mm and 125 mm extend travel without changing cylinders; the stop is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts on air loss. FA/FB flange or LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds, order the ACEJ16X125 instead - this ACPJ is discontinued.

The 125 mm stroke is non-standard for bore 16 and is made to order.
The ACPJ family is no longer in production; the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X125 (same P-to-E swap), which matches the bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard. On the ACPJ itself, the extend stroke is trimmed by an external stop screw within the ordered 40 mm window - it shortens travel only, never lengthens it past 125 mm, and it is not a load-holding brake.
