This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X125-50 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X125-50 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X125-50 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X125-50 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X125-50 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -50 code gives a 50 mm stop-screw window, so the 125 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere down to 75 mm on site. This 125 mm stroke is longer than the 75 mm maximum standard stroke for a 16 mm bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note that the ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X125, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
At 0.5 MPa this bore pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it reaches 140.7 N push, with a theoretical 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 6 kg vertically, or about 3 kg with a 2:1 margin. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, the fixed TPU bumper pads both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M4x0.7 thread. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s over 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X125-50 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X125-50 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light staking and marking on small electronics housings, with the 50 mm window letting one cylinder serve several part heights between 75 and 125 mm.
In a tight drilling jig where a full-length ISO 15552 profile cylinder will not fit, the short body plus LB foot mounting ejects finished parts at up to 500 mm/s.
About 60 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa holds lightweight cartons or trays steady during taping or labelling, with the stop screw set to the exact pack height.
Size between bores: a 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while a 20 mm bore gives 157.1 N - pick the 16 mm when your clamping or positioning load sits near 60 N of usable force. The stop screw trims the extend stroke only within the 50 mm window; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. Mounting uses FA/FB flanges or LB feet on the ISO 21287 face. This unit has no magnet; order the ACPJ16X125-50S if you need CMSE / DMSE switches. Replacement: ACEJ16X125.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 125 mm extend stroke to any value down to 75 mm. The 125 mm stroke is non-standard for a 16 mm bore (75 mm max standard) and is made to order. Port is M5x0.8, rod thread is female M4x0.7.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X125 in the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. For sensing, the magnet is the optional -S code: order ACPJ16X125-50S to enable CMSE or DMSE switches. This version without -S has no magnet, so no switch can be mounted.
