This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X125-75B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X125-75B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X125-75B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X125-75B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X125-75B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -75 stop screw trims the 125 mm stroke down to as short as 50 mm on site. This 16 mm bore unit pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa (140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa), running on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air at 30-500 mm/s. Note the 125 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build.
Its ISO 21287 short body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in tight jigs and gantries. For sizing, treat about 60 N (roughly 6 kg vertical) as the practical working force at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 100.5 N rating. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a male rod thread (B code) and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X125 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACPJ follows a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X125-75B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X125-75B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clears stamped terminals or molded clips from a nest, and the 50-125 mm adjustable range lets technicians dial in the eject position without re-plumbing.
Extended as a mechanical detent stop for a 16-station dial plate, the male rod thread (B) accepts a custom stop tip; the TPU bumper softens engagement at 30-500 mm/s.
About 6 kg of practical vertical force at 0.5 MPa is enough to pin small cartons while a tape head cycles, and the short ISO 21287 body fits under low sealing frames.
At 16 mm bore you get 100.5 N push / 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa; drop to a 12 mm bore (56.5 N push) for lighter clamping or step up to 20 mm (157.1 N push) for heavier work. The 75 mm adjustment window suits stations where the final extend position is tuned during commissioning. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston can drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches (this unit has no magnet fitted). Order ACEJ16X125 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code gives a 75 mm adjustment window on the 125 mm stroke, so the extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere between 50 and 125 mm with the stop screw. The 125 mm stroke is made to order because the standard maximum for bore 16 is 75 mm.
It is an ISO 21287-class compact cylinder: hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, M5x0.8 ports, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and a body about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The ACPJ family is discontinued - order ACEJ16X125, the current-production drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class, and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap.
