This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X125-75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X125-75 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X125-75 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X125-75 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ16X125-75 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -75 code gives a 75 mm stop-screw window, so the 125 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere in a 50-125 mm range on site. Air pushes the piston both ways, a fixed TPU bumper decelerates the rod at each end, and the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa). Note the 125 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X125, the ISO 21287 successor in the same bore and force class.
The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits shallow jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. In practice, plan for roughly 60 N (about 6 kg of push) of real work at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift about 5 kg vertically once a 2:1 margin is applied. The rod end is female M4x0.7, the port is M5x0.8, and no magnet is fitted - the optional -S code is required before CMSE / DMSE switches can be used.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X125-75 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X125-75 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 50-125 mm adjustable window lets a fixture builder trim the extend stroke to seat nylon inserts in electronics housings, using the 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa without crushing the part.
A stop screw sets the exact protrusion that catches 250 ml bottles at a filling station; the short body fits under the side guide rail where a full-length profile cylinder would collide.
The 16 mm bore presses microplate seals with about 6 kg of usable force at 0.5 MPa, and the female M4x0.7 rod thread accepts a custom probe tip directly.
Size the bore both ways: if your load needs under 57 N at 0.5 MPa, the 12 mm bore (56.5 N push) is lighter and cheaper; if you need up to 157 N, step up to the 20 mm bore. This 16 mm unit sits between them at 100.5 N push / 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa. The stop screw trims the extend stroke only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so on air loss the piston still drifts and cannot hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Since this model is discontinued, order ACEJ16X125 as the drop-in and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP series was built to a DIN-standard footprint.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code is a 75 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 125 mm extend stroke, giving a usable 50-125 mm range. It runs double acting on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C. The 125 mm stroke is made to order because the bore 16 standard maximum is 75 mm.
It is an ISO 21287-class short-body cylinder: hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, M5x08 ports - actually M5x0.8 - and a fixed TPU bumper at each end that only decelerates the rod; it never locks or holds a load. The body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mountings bolt straight on. Position sensing needs the optional -S magnet code; this unit (no S) has no magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches cannot be fitted. The model is discontinued - ACEJ16X125 is the current drop-in, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
