The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X15-20SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 15mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X15-20SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X15-20SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, built on the DIN-standard short-body format. Its 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code sets a 20 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the 15 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable range of 0-15 mm without changing cylinders. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing, and the B code gives a male rod thread.
Practically, plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated push), which lifts around 6 kg vertically before any margin is applied; halve that for a 2:1 safety factor and you can match parts up to about 3 kg. The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures. Note: this model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X15, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick stamped terminals or plastic caps off a nest, and the 0-15 mm trimmed stroke keeps the ejector pin travel exactly where the die needs it.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the rod has reached the trimmed stop, letting an electronics tester verify clamp closure before a probe cycle starts.
About 6 kg of vertical push at 0.5 MPa seats snap caps on cosmetic bottles, and the short body fits under a low guard where a full-length profile cylinder would not clear.
Size both ways before committing: a 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and may suffice for light indexing, while a 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N if your fixture grows. Keep the 20 mm adjustment window in mind - it only shortens the extend stroke, it never extends past 15 mm, and the stop screw is not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts on air loss. Mounting uses FA/FB flanges or LB feet plus I/Y rod knuckles on the ISO 21287 face. Since ACPJ16X15-20SB is discontinued, order ACEJ16X15 as the drop-in successor and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your existing holes.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code orders a 20 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 15 mm extend stroke anywhere within that window, giving 0-15 mm of usable travel. The fixed TPU bumpers at both ends only decelerate the piston at the ends - they never lock or hold a load. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ16X15 in the same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before you swap.
