This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-100B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-100B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-100B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-100B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X150-100B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 100 mm, giving a usable range of 50-150 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The short ISO 21287-style body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and gantries. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 8 mm rod with a male thread (B code) and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. A practical sizing check: at 0.5 MPa the push force equates to roughly 10 kg of lift, so plan on about 6 kg vertical load for a 2:1 margin. Running spec: 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), 30-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-100B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-100B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and 50-150 mm trimmable stroke suit clamping small aluminium brackets inside dense machining fixtures where a full-length body will not fit.
With about 6 kg of practical vertical capacity at 0.5 MPa, the cylinder can push lightweight cartons off a conveyor lane, with the stop screw set to match lane depth.
The 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa and male rod thread make it a fit for benchtop sample-press stations needing a repeatable, adjustable short stroke.
Size between bores: the 12 mm ACPJ gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N - pick the 16 mm when your load sits between roughly 40 and 60 N of real work. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only; it does not lock the piston, so on air loss the rod still drifts. Mounting options are FA/FB flange or LB foot, and the male rod thread suits external knuckles. No magnet is fitted on this code - order the -S variant if you need CMSE / DMSE switch positions. For new projects, specify the ACEJ16X150 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa: 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull. At 0.7 MPa: 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull. Theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the port is M5x0.8.
The -100 code gives a 100 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere from 150 mm down to 50 mm; it cannot lengthen past the ordered stroke. Fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. This model is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X150 (same bore, stroke and force class); confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The magnet is the optional -S code, enabling CMSE / DMSE switches.
