This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-100S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-100S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-100S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-100S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X150-100S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 100 mm, giving a usable range of 50-150 mm. This 16 mm bore unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke signalling. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build.
Its hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures, guarding and small gantries. For sizing, treat roughly 60 N (0.6 of the push force) as the practical working output at 0.5 MPa - about 5 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-100S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-100S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 50-150 mm adjustable range lets a jig builder trim the push stroke to seat bushings or pins in electronics and small-appliance housings, using the 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract on a laboratory leak-test or go/no-go gauge station, where the short body fits inside the fixture envelope.
About 60 N of practical working force at 0.5 MPa suits pressing terminal blocks or nylon fittings into plastic housings on a semi-automated bench cell.
Size the job both ways: if 100.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa is more than needed, the 12 mm bore ACPJ gives 56.5 N; if you need more, step up to the 20 mm bore at 157.1 N. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston can still drift, so never rely on it to hold a load mid-stroke. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and this -S version accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ16X150 as the current drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code means the stop screw can shorten the 150 mm extend stroke by up to 100 mm, so the working range is 50-150 mm. The 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order length, since the bore 16 standard maximum is 75 mm. This model is discontinued - order the ACEJ16X150 instead.
The hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287-class short build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with M5x0.8 ports and a female M4x0.7 rod thread. This -S model carries the optional magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped to the body for end-of-stroke detection. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings are available; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions when moving to the ACEJ16X150 replacement.
