This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ16X150-10S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 140-150 mm on site. Air works on both faces of the 8 mm hard-chrome S45C rod, so at 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard limit for a 16 mm bore, so this unit is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight pick-and-place gantries and fixture plates. In practice, plan on roughly 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for small plastic housings or light aluminum brackets. The -S code on this model carries the magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. Note: the ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ16X150, and you should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 140-150 mm adjustable reach clamps small machined brackets inside a jig where the short body must fit under a toolpath guard; about 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa holds light parts securely.
Pushes cartons or blisters off a narrow conveyor lane; the 150 mm made-to-order stroke covers the belt width while the compact body mounts between guide rails.
With the fitted magnet and CMSE / DMSE switches, the PLC confirms full extend and retract on a small electronics assembly gantry, cycling at 30-500 mm/s.
At 16 mm bore you sit mid-range in the ACPJ family: the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to 20 mm gives 157.1 N - pick the larger bore if your part weight or friction load approaches the 60 N usable figure of this cylinder. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock; on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate clamp if position must be held. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Since ACPJ16X150-10S is discontinued, order ACEJ16X150 as the current equivalent and verify the ISO 21287 footprint first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 140-150 mm range. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order length since the bore 16 standard maximum is 75 mm.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the short ISO 21287-class format, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end and an M5x0.8 air port. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE reed or DMSE solid-state switches mount directly on the body for end-of-stroke detection. The cylinder is discontinued; ACEJ16X150 is the current drop-in, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
