This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X150-10SB is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore and a 150 mm stroke, now discontinued and replaced by the ACEJ16X150. A stop screw trims the extend stroke by up to 10 mm on site, giving a usable 140-150 mm range, and the fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the piston at the ends of travel. Push force is 100.5 N and pull is 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice, budget roughly 60 N (about 6 kg of vertical lift) of the 0.5 MPa push for real work so the actuator is never run at its limit.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why this bore and stroke suit tight gantries and sliding guards. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a male (B code) thread, the -S magnet is fitted so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted, and the 150 mm stroke is non-standard and made to order because bore 16 tops out at 75 mm as a standard stroke.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
With the fitted -S magnet and a CMSE switch, a packaging machine slide can confirm it has reached the trimmed 140-150 mm extend position before the next carton is released.
About 100.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat small aluminium brackets in a drilling fixture, with the 10 mm window letting the operator fine-tune clamp travel without shims.
The short body, roughly half the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, lets a pick-and-place gantry eject finished PCB carriers sideways where a full-length actuator would not fit.
Size against neighbours: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and the 20 mm bore gives 157.1 N, so this 16 mm model at 100.5 N sits between them for light clamping and part transfer. If you need to hold a load against air loss, remember the stop screw only limits extend travel, it does not lock the piston mid-stroke. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread suits I/Y knuckles. Before ordering, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the current ACEJ16X150 replacement, since the ACPJ is DIN-standard and this exact model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code sets a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 150 mm extend stroke on site, so the working range is 140-150 mm. The stroke cannot be lengthened past the ordered 150 mm, and the stop is a travel limit, not a mid-stroke lock. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).
No. The ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X150, which matches the same 16 mm bore, 150 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Because the ACPJ is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The -S magnet on this unit is an ordered option, not standard on every cylinder, and enables CMSE / DMSE switches; the fixed TPU bumpers at both ends simply decelerate the piston.
