This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X150-10 is a discontinued double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 10 mm on site, giving a usable range of 140-150 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. The 150 mm stroke is longer than the 75 mm standard for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build. AirTAC now supplies the ISO 21287 ACEJ16X150 as the current drop-in.
In practice, plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated push), which corresponds to lifting about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body and S45C hard-chrome rod keep the short body about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and gantries. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the M4x0.7 female rod thread takes standard knuckles, and this version has no magnet - the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa ejects plastic caps or stamped clips from nests, and the 10 mm trim lets operators fine-tune the ejection distance without shimming.
With the optional -S magnet and CMSE / DMSE switches, the trimmed 140-150 mm extend stroke can signal end-of-stroke on PCB pin-press stations; this unit has no magnet fitted.
About 5 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin suits lowering probe heads or gauges onto parts; the stop screw sets the touchdown point within the 10 mm window.
Size both ways: bore 12 gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and bore 20 gives 157.1 N, so the 16 mm bore at 100.5 N sits between them for light clamping and positioning. The 10 mm adjustment window only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the ISO 21287 face. For new projects, order the ACEJ16X150 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
Push 100.5 N and pull 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; push 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N at 0.7 MPa; theoretical maximum 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, port M5x0.8, rod 8 mm with an M4x0.7 female thread. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard for bore 16, so it is made to order.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 10 mm, so the rod travels 140-150 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered 150 mm. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. The ACPJ16X150-10 is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150 (ISO 21287), so confirm mounting dimensions before swapping.
