This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-20S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-20S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-20S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-20S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X150-20S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 20 mm, giving a usable 130-150 mm range on site. Pushing 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa (140.7 N at 0.7 MPa), the 16 mm bore suits light clamping and positioning where space is tight. The 150 mm stroke is longer than the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so this unit is a non-standard, made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim jigs, guarding and gantries. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end and speed of 30-500 mm/s. Because the -S code is on this unit, the magnet is fitted and CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly. Plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kg) of usable push at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, and expect it to lift about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping from the DIN-standard ACP footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-20S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-20S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 130-150 mm adjustable range and 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit kicking plastic housings or stamped clips off a fixture, with CMSE switches confirming the eject position.
The short body fits inside compact analyzer frames, and the fitted magnet allows DMSE solid-state switches to index microplate or slide carriers at 30-500 mm/s.
About 6 kg of usable push at 0.5 MPa is enough to fold small carton flaps, and the stop screw lets operators trim the extend stroke without changing the cylinder.
Size both ways: if 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is more than the job needs, the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N; if the load needs more, step up to the 20 mm bore at 157.1 N. The 20 mm window shortens the extend stroke only - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches for end-of-stroke sensing. For new designs, order the ACEJ16X150, the current drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 140.7 N and pull to 105.6 N. The theoretical maximum at 1.0 MPa is 20.5 kgf. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with proof pressure of 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and speed runs 30-500 mm/s. Note the 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16.
The -20 code sets a 20 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within 130-150 mm, though it is an end stop only and never holds a load on air loss. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the ACEJ16X150 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm its mounting dimensions before swapping, and the fitted -S magnet carries over for CMSE / DMSE sensing.
