This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-20SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-20SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-20SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-20SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ16X150-20SB pushes 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa (140.7 N at 0.7 MPa) through an 8 mm hard-chrome rod with a male thread. The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke on site, so the usable range is 130-150 mm. The 150 mm stroke is longer than the 75 mm standard limit for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X150, same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim gantries and guarded pick stations. Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body. For sizing, plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the push rating), which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-20SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-20SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 130-150 mm adjustable range raises a 4 kg polycarbonate guard; the fitted -S magnet feeds a DMSE switch to confirm the guard is fully open before the cycle starts.
About 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa knocks finished bushings out of a fixture, and the stop screw lets operators shorten the eject stroke to 130 mm for shallow pockets.
The 150 mm made-to-order stroke sweeps underfilled bottles off a 200 mm belt, with CMSE switches on the -S magnet verifying extend and retract between bottles.
At 16 mm bore you get 100.5 N push / 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa; step down to ACPJ12 for 56.5 N or up to ACPJ20 for 157.1 N in the same short-body family. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so never rely on it to hold a load mid-stroke. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread (B code) suits external knuckles. Before ordering, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of ACEJ16X150, the drop-in successor to this discontinued DIN-standard model.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window: the stop screw trims the 150 mm extend stroke down to 130 mm. The 150 mm stroke is non-standard for bore 16 (75 mm max standard) and is made to order. It is double acting, runs 30-500 mm/s on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air, and is discontinued - ACEJ16X150 is the current replacement.
It is a short ISO 21287-class compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends - about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches mount directly on the body for end-of-stroke sensing. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings fit the standard face; confirm ISO 21287 dimensions on ACEJ16X150 before swapping from this discontinued unit.
