This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X150-30SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 120-150 mm on site. This 16 mm bore unit pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 150 mm stroke is beyond the 75 mm standard limit for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production successor is ACEJ16X150.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding. A practical sizing rule: about 60 N of push force is realistically usable at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S code on this model carries the optional magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be fitted, and the B code gives a male rod thread. Running specs: 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), 30-500 mm/s, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 120-150 mm adjustable push clears finished clips or bushings from a mold nest; the 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough for lightweight parts and the stop screw sets the exact eject distance.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm full extension on an electronics leak-test station, while the 30 mm window lets technicians fine-tune probe travel without re-plumbing.
The male-thread rod drives a pop-up stop or diverter on a carton conveyor; the compact body fits under low guard rails where a full-length profile cylinder would not clear.
At 16 mm bore this sits between the 12 mm unit (56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) and the 20 mm unit (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa); pick 20 mm if your load needs more than about 60 N of working force. The stop screw only limits the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. Because this model is discontinued, order ACEJ16X150 as the drop-in and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since ACP follows the DIN standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code means the 150 mm extend stroke can be shortened by up to 30 mm via the stop screw, so usable stroke is 120-150 mm. The 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order length since bore 16 normally tops out at 75 mm.
The ACPJ family is no longer in production; ACEJ16X150 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class - verify the mounting dimensions before swapping because ACP is DIN-standard. This unit carries the -S magnet option, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches mount directly for end-of-stroke detection. It runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends.
