This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X150-50B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 50 mm on site, giving a usable range of 100-150 mm. It is a discontinued DIN-standard model; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so this unit is made to order.
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, the fixed TPU bumpers absorb end-of-travel shock at both ends, and the B code gives a male 8 mm rod thread. No magnet is fitted on this version - the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
On a small CNC jig, the 50 mm window lets one cylinder serve several part heights: set the stop screw anywhere between 100 and 150 mm so the 100.5 N push seats the clamp without re-plumbing.
A male-thread rod end with a knuckle pushes lightweight cartons off a conveyor at 30-500 mm/s; the long 150 mm made-to-order stroke clears a wide lane in a tight frame.
The 16 mm bore lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin at 0.5 MPa, enough for raising sample trays inside compact analyzer housings where a full-length body will not fit.
Size up or down by force: bore 12 delivers 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa for lighter clamping, while bore 20 reaches 157.1 N for heavier work. This 16 mm bore sits between them at 100.5 N push. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so on air loss the piston still drifts and the cylinder should not be relied on to hold a load. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the standard face, and if you need position sensing, order the -S variant to enable CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, specify the ACEJ16X150 instead, as this ACPJ is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: the stop screw shortens the 150 mm extend stroke to any length from 100 to 150 mm. It cannot lengthen the stroke past 150 mm, and the stop is not a load-holding brake - on air loss the piston drifts. Note the 150 mm stroke is non-standard for bore 16 (75 mm max standard) and is made to order.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the short ISO 21287-class format, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with FA/FB flange and LB foot options. This version has no magnet, so no switch can be mounted; order the -S code to get the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches. This model is discontinued - the ACEJ16X150 is the current drop-in, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
