This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-50SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-50SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-50SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-50SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke, the ACPJ16X150-50SB carries a 16 mm bore and a 150 mm made-to-order stroke (the standard maximum for this bore is 75 mm). At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 100-150 mm range on site.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. For sizing, treat about 60 N (roughly 6 kg) as the practical push effort at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S code on this model adds the magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted. Note this ACPJ is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X150, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-50SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-50SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100-150 mm trimmed extend stroke ejects or clamps machined aluminium housings in a jig, with the 50 mm window absorbing fixture tolerance.
About 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa slides a folded carton off a conveyor lane; the short body fits under low guard rails.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm end positions on a small QA slide moving at 30-500 mm/s.
Size both ways: if 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is more than your load needs, the 12 mm bore (56.5 N) saves space; if the load needs more, step up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not lock the piston mid-stroke, and on air loss the rod can still drift, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread (B code) suits I/Y knuckles. Order the ACEJ16X150 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N. The theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
The -50 code sets a 50 mm window: a stop screw shortens the 150 mm extend stroke to any length from 100 mm upward, while the fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends. The ACPJ is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X150 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
