This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-75B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-75B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-75B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-75B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X150-75B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: an external stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 75 mm, giving a usable range of 75-150 mm on site. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Note the 150 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so this is a made-to-order build.
Plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, and expect it to lift about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and a male rod thread (B code) with PT ports. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ16X150, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-75B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-75B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clears stamped terminals and connector shells off a die face, while the 75-150 mm adjustable range lets the toolmaker set the exact eject position without shimming.
A 5 kg vertical-lift margin moves racks of 15 mL vials between stations, and the compact short body fits under the deck plate where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would not.
Male rod thread (B) takes a knuckle to fold top flaps at 30-500 mm/s, with the stop screw trimming stroke per carton size changeover.
At 16 mm bore you get 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; step down to the 12 mm bore (56.5 N) for lighter clamping or up to 20 mm (157.1 N) when the part weight demands more. The 75 mm adjustment window suits fixtures where the final stop position is tuned after installation. Remember the stop screw is an end stop only: on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding brake. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and add the -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switches - this unit has no magnet fitted. Order ACEJ16X150 as the current-production replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um, M5x0.8 ports, 8 mm rod with male thread, and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends.
Bore 16 tops out at 75 mm as a standard stroke, so 150 mm is a non-standard, made-to-order build with longer lead time. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ16X150 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
