This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X150-75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X150-75 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X150-75 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X150-75 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ16X150-75 uses a 16 mm bore and a 150 mm stroke trimmed by an external stop screw within a 75 mm window, giving a usable range of 75-150 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 140.7 N. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so this unit is made to order. Note: the ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X150, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The hard-anodized aluminium body with S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and sliding gantries. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kg of thrust) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The fixed TPU bumper at each end only decelerates the piston; it never locks a load, so on air loss the rod still drifts. No magnet is fitted on this version - the optional -S code is required for CMSE / DMSE switches.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X150-75 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X150-75 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The short body trims about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, letting the 100.5 N push clamp workpieces inside dense drilling jigs where a full-length body will not fit.
The 75 mm stop-screw window lets a line technician dial the 150 mm extend stroke down to 75 mm on site, matching ejection travel on packaging fixtures without changing the cylinder.
With about 6 kg of usable thrust at 0.5 MPa, the 8 mm rod lifts roughly 5 kg vertically - enough to raise small machined housings off a nest at the end of an assembly cycle.
Size against neighbours: bore 12 gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and bore 20 gives 157.1 N, so pick 16 mm when your load sits between roughly 40 and 90 N of working demand. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot on the ISO 21287 face, with I/Y rod knuckles available. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant with the magnet instead of this non-S code. For new projects, specify ACEJ16X150 - same bore, stroke and force class, currently in production.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa: 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull. At 0.7 MPa: 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull. Theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um. The 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16.
A stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 75 mm, so the rod can stop anywhere in a 75-150 mm range; it cannot extend past the ordered 150 mm. The stop is a mechanical end stop only - it does not hold a load if air is lost. The ACPJ is discontinued; ACEJ16X150 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm mounting dimensions before swapping.
