This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X160-100B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X160-100B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X160-100B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X160-100B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X160-100B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 160 mm stroke down by up to 100 mm, giving a usable range of 60-160 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N push. The 160 mm stroke is longer than the 75 mm standard maximum for a 16 mm bore, so this unit is made to order. Note this model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X160, same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and sliding guards. For sizing, plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated push), which corresponds to lifting about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The rod end is male thread (B code), the port is M5x0.8, and no magnet is fitted - the optional -S code is required before CMSE or DMSE switches can be used. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X160-100B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X160-100B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×160 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 60-160 mm adjustable window lets one cylinder eject cartons of different depths; 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough for light corrugated packs.
The male-thread rod (B code) takes a knuckle to nudge finished 3-5 kg parts off a machining fixture; the short body fits inside the fixture envelope.
At 30-500 mm/s the rod deflects small packages off a belt; the 160 mm stroke covers belt width without a long-body cylinder.
If 100.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your jig, step up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa); if the load is lighter and space is tighter, the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N. The 100 mm adjust window means one cylinder can serve several stroke settings between 60 and 160 mm - just remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and does not hold a load if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard ISO 21287 face. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order ACEJ16X160 as the drop-in and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, as the ACP series was DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N. The theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 160 mm stroke trimmed by a 100 mm adjust window (usable 60-160 mm), an M5x0.8 port, a male rod thread and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The 160 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 75 mm standard maximum for this bore.
Only if the optional -S magnet was ordered. This model (no S code) has no magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches cannot be mounted. Also note the stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts. The ACPJ16X160-100B is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ16X160, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
