This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X160-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X160-10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X160-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X160-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder from AirTAC's ACPJ series works on a 16 mm bore with a 160 mm made-to-order stroke and a 10 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the extend stroke down to 150 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into cramped jig plates and guarding where a full-length body cannot. The B code gives a male 8 mm rod thread, and the port is M5x0.8.
Plan around about 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 100.5 N rating, which corresponds to lifting roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The 160 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is produced to order. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X160, same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard. No magnet is fitted unless the optional -S code is ordered.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X160-10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X160-10B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×160 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps light aluminium brackets in drilling fixtures, and the 10 mm window lets you trim the 160 mm stroke to clear the fixture plate exactly.
Mounted with an LB foot beside a narrow conveyor, the short body ejects mislabelled cartons at 30-500 mm/s without stealing aisle length behind the frame.
With about 5 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, the male-thread rod raises small sample trays inside tight gantry towers where a profile cylinder will not fit.
Size both ways: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if your load is lighter, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N if you need more force from the same short body. The adjuster here is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it shortens travel, never lengthens it, and it does not lock the piston if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and add the -S code if you later want CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. For new builds, order the ACEJ16X160 instead, as this ACPJ version is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code sets a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 160 mm extend stroke to as little as 150 mm. It is an end stop only, not a load lock, and the 160 mm stroke is made to order since the bore 16 standard maximum is 75 mm.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X160, a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class with a matching short ISO 21287 body. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard. Also note this unit has no magnet unless the optional -S code was ordered, so CMSE / DMSE switches only work on -S versions.
