This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X160-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X160-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X160-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X160-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ16X160-10SB is a double acting compact cylinder with a 10 mm adjustable-stroke window: an external stop screw trims the 160 mm extend stroke down to 150 mm on site, so one cylinder covers a 150-160 mm working range. Air drives the rod out and pulls it back, and a fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the stroke ends. At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N push. Note the 160 mm stroke is a made-to-order length, since the standard maximum for this bore is 75 mm.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and gantries. The male rod thread (B code) and the -S magnet this model carries let you mount CMSE or DMSE switches for end-of-stroke sensing. As a working figure, plan on about 60 N of real push effort at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X160, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X160-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X160-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×160 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 150-160 mm adjustable reach clamps aluminum machined parts inside a guarded jig where a full-length cylinder will not fit, with 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa holding light workpieces.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract as the rod pushes finished connectors off a nest, trimming the stroke to 150 mm with the stop screw.
Lifts about 5 kg vertically or pushes small blister packs sideways on a compact packaging bench, using the 10 mm adjustment to fine-tune the eject position without re-piping.
At 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this 16 mm bore sits between the 12 mm bore (56.5 N) and the 20 mm bore (157.1 N); step up to 20 mm if your load needs more margin. The 10 mm window only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread suits I/Y knuckles. Order the ACEJ16X160 as the current drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the 160 mm extend stroke can be trimmed to 150 mm via the external stop. It runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s. The 160 mm stroke is made to order, since the bore 16 standard maximum is 75 mm.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X160, the ISO 21287 version in the same bore, stroke and force class. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, because the ACPJ follows the older DIN-standard compact layout. The male rod thread, M5x0.8 port and optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches carry over in the ACEJ range.
