This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X160-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X160-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X160-30SB

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X160-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X160-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X160-30SB

This ACPJ16X160-30SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: air drives the piston out and pulls it back, and a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere inside the ordered 30 mm window, giving a usable range of 130-160 mm. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Note that the 160 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16, so it is a made-to-order build.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixture plates and sliding gantries. Because roughly 0.6 of rated push is a sensible working figure, plan on about 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa - enough to lift about 6 kg vertically, or about 3 kg with a 2:1 margin. The male rod thread (B code) and the fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches are built into this variant. This model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X160, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X160-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X160-30SB Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Fixture clamp with trimmable reach

On a CNC jig for aluminium housings, the 30 mm window lets a technician dial the 160 mm extend stroke down to 130 mm to match part heights without swapping the cylinder; 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa seats light clamps.

conveyor_belt

Packaging line push-off

Kicking cartons off a narrow conveyor lane, the compact body fits where a full-length profile cylinder cannot, and the male rod thread takes a knuckle for a pusher plate moving boxes up to about 6 kg.

science

Lab sample elevator

Raising sample trays between test stations, the fitted -S magnet feeds CMSE switches for end-of-travel signals, and the 130-160 mm adjustable range tunes tray height per protocol.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X160-30SB with the ACEJ16X160-30SB

At 16 mm bore you get 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; step down to ACPJ12 for light clamps around 56.5 N, or up to ACPJ20 when you need 157.1 N. The 30 mm adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate valve solution if a load must be held. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the standard face, and the -S magnet on this unit accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new designs, order the ACEJ16X160 instead, as this ACPJ series is discontinued.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ16X160-30SB
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X160-30SB FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 160 mm extend stroke to any length down to 130 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. The 160 mm stroke is made to order, since bore 16 standard strokes top out at 75 mm.

No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X160, which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short body; confirm the mounting dimensions before swapping because the ACP was built to a DIN standard. This variant carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted, and it has a male rod thread with PT ports (M5x0.8) and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s.
