AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X20-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X20-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 20mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X20-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with double acting operation and a 10 mm adjustable-stroke window, the ACPJ16X20-10B runs on a 16 mm bore and 20 mm nominal stroke. The stop screw trims the extend stroke on site anywhere between 10 and 20 mm, so one cylinder covers several jig positions. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
Because about 60% of the 100.5 N push is a realistic working force, plan on roughly 60 N of usable thrust at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 6 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and a male rod thread (the B code) on the 8 mm rod. Note this unit has no magnet: the optional -S code is what enables CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. For new projects, the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X20 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series is DIN-standard.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clears lightweight moulded clips and caps from shallow cavities, while the 10-20 mm trimmed stroke keeps the ejector travel short and repeatable.
About 60 N of working thrust at 0.5 MPa holds small aluminium brackets against a drill jig, and the male rod thread (B code) accepts a knuckle for swivelling clamp arms.
With the optional -S magnet ordered, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm end positions inside the compact body, useful where the 10-20 mm stroke range must be verified cycle by cycle.
Size it against neighbours: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N - pick the 16 mm when your load sits near the 60 N working-thrust mark. The 10 mm window shortens the extend stroke only; it never lengthens it past 20 mm, and the stop is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued - order the ACEJ16X20 as the drop-in successor.

It cannot lengthen the stroke beyond 20 mm, and the stop is not a load-holding brake - on air loss the piston can still drift. Fixed TPU bumpers at both ends decelerate the piston. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X20, a drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class.
