This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X25-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X25-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X25-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X25-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ16X25-10S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and a 10 mm trim window, so the extend stroke can be set anywhere between 15 and 25 mm with the external stop screw. Air at 0.5 MPa delivers 100.5 N on the push stroke and 75.4 N on the pull stroke, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which makes it a fit for tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot go.
Because the -S code is on this model, the magnet is fitted and CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly for end-of-stroke sensing. A practical sizing rule: at 0.5 MPa the 100.5 N push supports about 60 N of real work, which lifts roughly 6 kg vertically - halve that to about 3 kg if you want a 2:1 margin on a vertical lift. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP body is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X25-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X25-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps small aluminium brackets during drilling, and the 15-25 mm trim range lets one cylinder serve fixtures of slightly different part heights.
With the fitted magnet and a DMSE solid-state switch, the controller confirms the rod has reached the trimmed stop before the pick-and-place head moves on.
The short body fits under the low sealing head where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would not, pressing flaps for about 3 kg vertical load with a 2:1 margin.
At 16 mm bore this sits mid-range in the small ACPJ family: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N - step up if your part weight exceeds the roughly 6 kg vertical-lift equivalent of this bore. The stop screw only trims the extend stroke within the 10 mm window and is not a mid-stroke lock; on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate holding valve if the load must stay put. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the standard face, and the female M4x0.7 rod thread takes standard accessories. Order the ACEJ16X25 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 10 mm adjustable window on a 25 mm stroke, runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air at 30-500 mm/s, has an M5x0.8 port, an 8 mm rod with female M4x0.7 thread, and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
Order the ACEJ16X25, the current-production ISO 21287 replacement: swap the P for an E and you get the same bore, stroke and force class with a matching short body and mounting family. Because the ACP body is DIN-standard rather than ISO 21287, confirm the mounting dimensions against the ACEJ drawing before committing the swap.
