This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X25-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X25-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X25-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X25-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X25-10 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -10 code gives a 10 mm stop-screw window, so the 25 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere from 15 to 25 mm on site. Inside, a 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body and S45C hard-chrome rod keep the short ISO 21287-class package rigid, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. Note that this model is discontinued; the current-production successor is the ACEJ16X25.
Practically, plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kgf) of usable push at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift about 5 kg vertically once you keep a 2:1 margin. Because the body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, it slots into shallow fixtures, slide clamps and guarded stations where a full-length body will not reach. This unit has no magnet fitted (no -S code), so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted; order an -S variant if sensing is needed. Runs on 40 um filtered air at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), 30-500 mm/s, -20 to +70 C.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X25-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X25-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims a 15-25 mm extend stroke to press dowel pins into aluminium housings, using about 60 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa.
The short body lifts finished PCB carrier trays about 5 kg vertically off a nest inside a tight SMT machine guard.
A stop screw sets the exact gate-swing stroke per carton size on a filling line, no cylinder swap needed when the format changes.
Size against neighbours: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and the 20 mm bore gives 157.1 N, so this 16 mm unit at 100.5 N sits mid-range for light clamping and indexing. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. Female M4x0.7 rod thread, PT ports, FA flange or LB foot mounting. Discontinued - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and switch to the ACEJ16X25.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the 25 mm extend stroke can be set anywhere from 15 to 25 mm with the external stop screw. Ports are M5x0.8, the rod thread is female M4x0.7, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s.
The ISO 21287-class compact body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and FA flange or LB foot mounts bolt straight onto standard fixture faces. A fixed TPU bumper decelerates the rod at each end only - it never holds or brakes a load. The ACPJ family is no longer produced; the ACEJ16X25 is the current drop-in successor, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
