AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X25-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X25-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X25-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X25-30B is a discontinued double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 25 mm stroke anywhere within a 30 mm window on site, so one cylinder covers a range of jig positions. Air drives the rod out and back, and the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa). In practice, plan on roughly 60 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 6 kg vertically - and about 3 kg with a 2:1 margin for a real part like a small aluminum bracket.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures, guarding and pick stations. The hard-anodized aluminum body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a male (B) thread, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). Note: this unit is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping from the DIN-standard ACP footprint.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to tip a finished 10-15 mm aluminum or brass part off a CNC jig, and the 30 mm adjust window lets the operator shorten the extend stroke so the ejector never fouls the fixture wall.
With about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, this 16 mm bore slides into the narrow gap between a conveyor guide rail and the machine frame to divert blister packs; add the -S magnet code if CMSE / DMSE end-position sensing is needed later.
Roughly 60 N of usable clamping force at 0.5 MPa holds a plastic control box against a locating pin during screw driving, and the male B rod thread accepts a knuckle for angled clamp arms.
Size against the 0.5 MPa figures: bore 12 gives 56.5 N push and bore 20 gives 157.1 N push, so the 16 mm at 100.5 N sits between them - step up to 20 mm if your load needs more than about 60 N of real work, or down to 12 mm to save space. The 30 mm adjust window lets you dial the extend stroke from 0 to 25 mm, but the stop is a mechanical end stop only: on air loss the piston drifts, so it is not a load-holding lock. This version has no magnet (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches), and the male B rod thread suits knuckle-style tooling. For new designs, order the ACEJ16X25 instead - this ACPJ is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa it gives 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The extend stroke is 25 mm, trimmable by up to 30 mm via the stop screw, with speed 30-500 mm/s, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and an M5x0.8 port. The model is discontinued; the ACEJ16X25 is the current replacement.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke on site anywhere within the 30 mm window - it trims the stroke, it never extends it past 25 mm, and it is not a mid-stroke lock. For sensing, the optional -S magnet code enables CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches; this B-version without S has no magnet, so no switch can be mounted. Fixed TPU bumpers at both ends absorb end-of-travel shock.
