This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X25-30S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X25-30S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X25-30S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X25-30S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -30 code gives a 30 mm trim window, so the stop screw lets you dial the 25 mm stroke anywhere from 0 to 25 mm on site. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the -S code means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE switches can be mounted directly.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that the stop screw trims the extend stroke only; it is not a mid-stroke lock, and the rod will drift if air is lost. This model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X25-30S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X25-30S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The trimmed 0-25 mm extend stroke and 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit knocking finished bushings or pins out of a jig without disturbing the fixture.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches report end-of-stroke on a 25 mm clamp move, ideal for automated electronics test stations.
About 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa presses small terminals and dowels in confined gantry heads where a full-length body cannot fit.
Size the bore against your load: at 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore pushes 100.5 N, while the 12 mm bore manages 56.5 N and the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N - step up if your tooling mass or friction load exceeds about 60 N of real work. Match the mounting to the fixture using FA/FB flange or LB foot options on the ISO 21287 face. If you need position feedback, this unit already carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds, order the ACEJ16X25 instead, as this ACPJ version is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The bore is 16 mm with an 8 mm rod, M5x0.8 ports, a female M4x0.7 rod thread, and a 25 mm stroke adjustable within a 30 mm window. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
The short ISO 21287-class aluminium body cuts mounting length by about 50% versus an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits shallow fixtures and guarding, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt straight to standard faces. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the ACEJ16X25 is the current drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before converting.
