AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X25-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X25-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X25-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X25-30 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, now discontinued in favour of the ISO 21287 ACEJ16X25. Its 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the 25 mm stroke anywhere down to zero on site. Note the adjuster is a mechanical end stop only: on air loss the piston still drifts, so it never holds a load.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped jigs and guarding. A rule of thumb: plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the rod end is female M4x0.7 with an M5x0.8 air port. This unit has no magnet; order the -S variant if you need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. Before swapping to the ACEJ16X25, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions, since the ACP family is DIN-standard.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick stamped terminals or connector shells off a die, and the 30 mm adjustment window lets one cylinder serve dies with different ejection heights.
In electronics test racks the short body fits under low fixture lids, and trimming the 25 mm stroke via the stop screw prevents over-compression of spring probes on varying board stacks.
Running at 30-500 mm/s, the 16 mm bore tucks small carton flaps at speed, and the female M4x0.7 rod thread accepts a knuckle for a swing-tuck motion.
At 16 mm bore this cylinder gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; step down to a 12 mm bore (56.5 N) for lighter clamping or up to 20 mm (157.1 N) when the load needs more muscle. The 30 mm adjustment window covers trim ranges wider than the 25 mm stroke itself, so one unit can serve several fixture variants. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts and I/Y rod knuckles to the ISO 21287 face. If position sensing matters, specify the -S magnet code at order time - it cannot be retrofitted. For new designs, order the current-production ACEJ16X25 instead and verify the mounting footprint against ISO 21287.

The -30 code is a 30 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 25 mm extend stroke on site, so the usable range is 0-25 mm. It is an end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift on air loss. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X25 (same bore, stroke and force class). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
