This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X30-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X30-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X30-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X30-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X30-10 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: a stop screw trims the 30 mm extend stroke by up to 10 mm on site, giving a usable range of 20-30 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the ISO 21287 short format, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Note: this model is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X30, same bore, stroke and force class.
Practical sizing: treat roughly 60 N (0.6 of the push rating) as the realistic working force at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The rod end is female M4x0.7, the port is M5x0.8, and fixed TPU bumpers decelerate the piston at both ends. This unit has no magnet fitted - order the -S code if you need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X30-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X30-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Clamps small aluminium brackets on a CNC jig; the 10 mm window lets the setter trim the 30 mm extend stroke so the 100.5 N push seats the part without over-travel.
Pushes finished vials off a conveyor lane at up to 500 mm/s; order the -S version with a CMSE switch to confirm the rod has returned to the 20 mm minimum position.
Adds about 60 N of practical working force to a manual lever press for snapping connector housings together, lifting roughly 5 kg vertically with margin.
At 16 mm bore this sits in the middle of the ACPJ range: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if you need less force, while the 20 mm bore delivers 157.1 N for heavier clamping. The 10 mm window suits fixtures where the final extend position is tuned during commissioning. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the ISO 21287 face. For new builds, specify the ACEJ16X30 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
Push is 100.5 N and pull 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 140.7 N and pull to 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting, 16 mm bore, 30 mm stroke with a 10 mm adjustment window (usable 20-30 mm), M5x0.8 port, female M4x0.7 rod thread, speed 30-500 mm/s, and operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).
No - the ACPJ16X30-10 is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X30, a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping since the ACP is DIN-standard. On the adjuster: a stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 10 mm within the ordered window. It is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load, and on air loss the piston can drift.
