This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X30-20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X30-20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X30-20B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X30-20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X30-20B is a discontinued double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 30 mm stroke by up to 20 mm, giving a usable range of 10-30 mm. The B code gives a male rod thread on the 8 mm rod, and the M5x0.8 port follows the 16 mm bore. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical ceiling of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa.
The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod is an ISO 21287 short build that saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding. In practice, plan on about 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X30, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping from the DIN-standard ACP footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X30-20B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X30-20B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 10-30 mm adjustable range lets a machinist trim the clamp stroke to the part without re-plumbing, and 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa holds light aluminium workpieces.
A 30 mm stroke ejects finished clips or pins from a nest; the male rod thread takes an I-type knuckle straight off the shelf.
About 60 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa suits low-force crimp and stake operations where a full-length cylinder will not fit the frame.
Size against neighbours: the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to 20 mm gives 157.1 N - pick 16 mm when your load sits between those. The 20 mm adjustment window shortens the extend stroke only; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. This unit has no magnet (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches), a male rod thread for direct knuckle mounting, and FA/LB brackets that bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Order the ACEJ16X30 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull; theoretical maximum 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 30 mm stroke trimmed by a 20 mm adjustment window (usable 10-30 mm), an 8 mm male-thread rod, M5x0.8 port, 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) operating pressure, 30-500 mm/s speed and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
The ISO 21287 short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts plus I/Y knuckles bolt to the standard face. This ACPJ is discontinued; the ACEJ16X30 is the current drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was DIN-standard.
