This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X30-20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X30-20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X30-20 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X30-20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder in the discontinued AirTAC ACPJ series. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code sets a 20 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the 30 mm extend stroke down to a 10 mm minimum, so one cylinder covers a 10-30 mm working range. Note that this stop is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding brake.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A practical sizing rule: at 0.5 MPa plan for about 60 N of usable push force, which lifts roughly 6 kg vertically with margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X30, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X30-20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X30-20 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 10-30 mm trimmed stroke and 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa hold small aluminium brackets in a drill jig, with the stop screw set to match each fixture.
A 16 mm bore slides PCB trays into a test nest; with the optional -S magnet, CMSE / DMSE switches confirm the end position.
At 30-500 mm/s the rod presses labels onto cosmetic bottles, lifting about 6 kg vertically with margin at 0.5 MPa.
For a 30 mm stroke class job, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa - enough for light clamping and part-presenting. Step down to the 12 mm bore (56.5 N) for tighter loads, or up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N) when force matters. This unit has no magnet fitted, so no CMSE / DMSE switch can be mounted; order the -S code if position sensing is needed. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard ISO 21287 face. Since ACPJ is discontinued, specify the ACEJ16X30 as the current replacement and verify mounting dimensions against the ISO 21287 datasheet.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um. The port is M5x0.8, the rod is 8 mm with a female M4x0.7 thread, and the extend stroke is adjustable from 10 to 30 mm via the 20 mm window.
The short-body build saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting on the standard face. The ACPJ series is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X30 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering the swap.
