This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X30-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X30-30B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X30-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X30-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X30-30B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -30 code gives a 30 mm stop-screw window, so the 30 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere from 0 to 30 mm on site. Push force is 100.5 N and pull 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. The B code orders a male rod thread on the 8 mm rod, and the M5x0.8 port follows the 16 mm bore. Note this model is DISCONTINUED - the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X30.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod. For sizing, expect roughly 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. There is no magnet on this build (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches), and the end stop trims the stroke only - it never holds a load if air is lost.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X30-30B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X30-30B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 0-30 mm trimmed extend stroke pushes finished bushings or pins off a jig with about 60 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa, resetting fully on the retract stroke.
Male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to a latch lever; the stop screw lets technicians dial the latch travel between 0 and 30 mm without changing cylinders.
With roughly 5 kg vertical lift equivalent at a 2:1 margin, the 16 mm bore presses small caps or lids in test rigs where the short body must fit under a frame rail.
At 16 mm bore this unit delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; step down to a 12 mm bore (56.5 N) for lighter clamping or up to 20 mm (157.1 N) when the load grows. The 30 mm adjustment window covers fixtures where the final stop position is set during commissioning. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts to the ISO 21287 face, and remember the stop screw is not a mid-stroke lock - the rod drifts on air loss. Before ordering, confirm the ACEJ16X30 replacement matches your mounting dimensions, since the ACP family is DIN-standard and no longer produced.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 140.7 N and pull to 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm stop-screw window, so the 30 mm stroke can be shortened anywhere from 0 to 30 mm. It runs double acting on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air at 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. This model is discontinued; the ACEJ16X30 is the current replacement.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke within the ordered 30 mm window - it sets the end position, it does not lengthen the stroke past 30 mm and it does not hold a load when air is lost. Position sensing requires the optional -S magnet code, which allows CMSE or DMSE switches; this version (no S code) carries no magnet, so no switch can be mounted. For the swap to the ACEJ16X30, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
