This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X30-30S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X30-30S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X30-30S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X30-30S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ16X30-30S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder: 16 mm bore, 30 mm stroke and a 30 mm trim window, so a stop screw sets any extend stroke from 0 to 30 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod keeps the mounting length roughly 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends.
Because the -S code is in this model, the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the body for end-of-stroke signals. As a buyer rule of thumb, plan on about 60 N (roughly 6 kg of vertical lift) of usable work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating. This model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X30 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X30-30S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X30-30S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trim the 30 mm stroke to clamp thin aluminium brackets on an electronics assembly fixture, with about 100.5 N of push force at 0.5 MPa holding the part against the locators.
The fitted -S magnet lets CMSE or DMSE switches confirm rod position on a short-stroke ejector that pushes rejected blister packs off a packaging conveyor.
Set the extend stroke anywhere from 0 to 30 mm to press-fit nylon bushings into small housings, using roughly 60 N of practical working force at 0.5 MPa.
Size by force: a 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, this 16 mm bore 100.5 N, and stepping up to 20 mm reaches 157.1 N. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. Female M4x0.7 rod thread, M5x0.8 ports, FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting, and the fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ16X30 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For real work, plan on about 60 N at 0.5 MPa - roughly 6 kg of vertical lift with a margin. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the extend stroke trims anywhere in the 0-30 mm window.
The short ISO 21287-class aluminium body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with M5x0.8 ports, FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting and a female M4x0.7 rod thread. Because this unit carries the -S code, the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches mount directly on the body. The ACPJ family is discontinued - order the ACEJ16X30 as the current drop-in and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
