This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X30-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X30-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X30-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 30mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X30-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: air drives the rod out and pulls it back, and an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere within the ordered 30 mm window, giving a usable range of 0-30 mm. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. As a sizing rule of thumb, plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically once you keep a 2:1 margin. Note that the stop screw sets the end of travel only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the rod end is female M4x0.7 with M5x0.8 ports. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X30, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X30-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X30-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa (about 60 N usable) clamps brackets or cover plates in drill jigs, with the 0-30 mm trim matching varied part heights without re-plumbing.
A short 30 mm stroke with on-site adjustment suits light press-fit and capping heads on compact packaging benches, where the short body fits under a low frame.
Pushes finished parts off a nest between cycles; order the -S version when CMSE or DMSE switches are needed to confirm the eject position.
Size between neighbours: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if your load is lighter, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N if you need more force at the same footprint. Choose the -S code if you want the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches - without it no sensor can be fitted. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face. Because this ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ16X30 as the drop-in successor and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 30 mm extend stroke on site, so usable travel is 0-30 mm. It runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X30 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same 16 mm bore, 30 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 compact format. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before ordering, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint.
