This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X35-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X35-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 35mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X35-10SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: a stop screw trims the 35 mm extend stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 25-35 mm. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to I/Y knuckles, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches for end-of-stroke sensing.
Built to the DIN-standard compact format, the hard-anodized aluminium body with S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding. In practice, plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kgf) of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35 (ISO 21287), so confirm mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X35-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X35-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×35 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps small aluminium brackets during drilling or deburring, and the 10 mm adjust window lets the setter dial in the 25-35 mm stroke to match fixture height.
With the fitted -S magnet driving CMSE or DMSE switches, the cylinder confirms extend and retract on small electronics parts, cycling at 30-500 mm/s between tight gantry walls.
About 60 N of usable force slides lightweight cartons off a conveyor stop, and the short body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder inside cramped guarding.
Size by force: bore 12 gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, this 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N, and bore 20 reaches 157.1 N - step up if your part weight or friction load exceeds about 60 N of real work. The 10 mm adjust window suits stations where the final position is tuned on the machine, not in the drawing. Remember the stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only; on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate clamp if you need position holding. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts and I/Y rod knuckles to the male thread, order CMSE / DMSE switches to pair with the fitted -S magnet, and specify the ACEJ16X35 for new builds.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code is a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 35 mm extend stroke to any setting from 25 to 35 mm. The TPU bumper at both ends is fixed, and the stop is not a load-holding brake - the rod still drifts if air is lost.
Order the ACEJ16X35, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you keep the same 16 mm bore, 35 mm stroke and force class. Because the ACPJ is DIN-standard rather than ISO 21287, confirm the mounting dimensions against the ACEJ drawing before swapping. The ACEJ keeps the M5x0.8 port, FA/FB flange and LB foot options, and the -S magnet code for CMSE / DMSE switches.
