This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X35-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X35-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-10

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 35mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-10

Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ16X35-10 is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore and 35 mm stroke. Air drives the rod in both directions, pushing 100.5 N and pulling 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 25-35 mm range, so one cylinder serves several fixture positions. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot.

Practical sizing: at 0.5 MPa the push force equates to about 10 kgf, so plan on roughly 6 kg of usable vertical lift once a 2:1 margin is applied. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a fixed TPU bumper at each end, running 30-500 mm/s on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). This model is no longer in production; the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X35, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X35-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-10 Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Small-part ejection from plastic molds

A 25-35 mm adjustable push with 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick lightweight molded clips or caps off the ejector side of a small tool, and the 10 mm trim window lets you tune the release point without shimming.

settings

Clamping fixtures on electronics assembly benches

About 6 kg of usable vertical force holds PCB carrier trays or connector housings against a hard stop during screwdriving, and the compact short body tucks under low fixture plates.

vertical_align_bottom

Stop-and-sort gates on lab automation conveyors

The 8 mm rod and 35 mm stroke deflect small vials or sample tubes into a chute at 30-500 mm/s, with the stop screw set so the gate never over-travels into the belt edge.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-10 with the ACEJ16X35-10

Compare forces before you commit: the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa, this 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N, and stepping up to 20 mm gives 157.1 N - pick the smallest bore that clears your load with margin. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. This unit has no magnet (the -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches), a female M4x0.7 rod thread and PT ports. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face. For new builds, order the ACEJ16X35 instead - it is the current-production successor.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ16X35-10
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-10 FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code means a 10 mm adjustment window: the external stop screw shortens the 35 mm extend stroke to any setting between 25 and 35 mm. It shortens the stroke only - it never lengthens it past 35 mm, and it is a mechanical end stop, not a load-holding lock, so the rod still drifts on air loss. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C.

No - the ACPJ16X35-10 is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35, an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, because the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint. If you need position sensing, order the ACEJ with the -S magnet code so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted; this ACPJ unit has no magnet fitted.
