This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X35-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X35-30B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 35mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This AirTAC ACPJ16X35-30B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 35 mm stroke anywhere inside the ordered 30 mm window, giving a usable range of 5-35 mm. At the 16 mm bore it delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice, plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which vertically lifts about 5 kg with a 2:1 margin - enough for small clamping plates or light fixture parts.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 8 mm rod, and the B code gives a male rod thread. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35, a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X35-30B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X35-30B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×35 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Pressing dowel pins or bushings into aluminium housings on an assembly bench, where the 60 N usable force at 0.5 MPa and the 5-35 mm trimmed stroke match shallow insert depths.
Clamping thin sheet-metal brackets inside a welding or machining jig whose guard leaves under half the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder - the short body fits where longer bodies cannot.
Kicking small cartons or blisters off a conveyor lane at 30-500 mm/s, with the male rod thread (B code) taking an I or Y knuckle for a simple pusher arm.
Size both ways: if 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to the 20 mm bore for 157.1 N; if the load is under 56.5 N, the 12 mm bore saves space. The 35 mm stroke sits well inside the 75 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so no made-to-order length is needed. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so on air loss the piston still drifts. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and if you need reed or solid-state switches, order the -S variant (ACPJ16X35-30BS) to add the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE sensors; without -S there is no magnet. For new builds, specify the ACEJ16X35 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For sizing, count on about 60 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa, which vertically lifts about 5 kg with a 2:1 margin. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um.
The -30 code is a 30 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 35 mm extend stroke on site to any length from 5 to 35 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a load-holding lock, and the fixed TPU bumpers only decelerate at the ends. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X35 (same bore, stroke and force class) - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
