This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X35-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X35-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 35mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ16X35-30SB carries a 16 mm bore and a 35 mm base stroke that an external stop screw trims by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 5-35 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) and the optional -S magnet, which this model carries, let CMSE or DMSE switches report position directly on the machine.
The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding. In practice, plan on about 60 N (roughly 6 kg) of usable push at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, which means it lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X35-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X35-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×35 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 5-35 mm trimmed stroke and 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit clamping small aluminium brackets in machining fixtures where the short body must fit inside the jig footprint.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm part ejection on electronics assembly lines, while the male rod thread takes a knuckle for angled pushes.
The stop screw lets operators dial the extend stroke down to 5 mm for capping or stoppering small vials, with the fixed TPU bumper softening both ends at up to 500 mm/s.
Size the bore by load: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, this 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N, and stepping up to 20 mm reaches 157.1 N. If your part mass exceeds about 6 kg of effective push at 0.5 MPa, move to the 20 mm bore. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ16X35 as the current drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. As a rule of thumb, count on about 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um.
The -30 code is a 30 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 35 mm extend stroke on site, so the working range is 5-35 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 35 mm. The stop is an end stop only, not a load-holding brake. This ACPJ model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
